Do you know that aduki beans are also called red bean in Chinese?


I was watching a TV program on Thursday.


The chef asked  two actors a question which I learned at age of 10.


I was surprised that they gave the wrong answer.


The question is:


"When do you add sugar into the red bean soup and what is the reason for that?"


 


 


Simple, right?!  It is all about the osmosis.


If you add sugar before they are cooked,  they can never be cooked thoroughly.


So you should add  sugar or salt after the beans are cooked completely.

You can preheat the beans and put them into a small cloth bag.

The best of all, it can keep you warm in the winter for a long time.


This kind of bean contains less water than other kind of beans.
